About Us

The Kriya Yoga Retreat Centre is a place for meditation and contemplation of the Self.

The main emphasis is on providing kriyabans and sincere spiritual seekers with a quiet place where they can take time out from everyday life to assess and refine their spiritual practice.

Week long retreats will be held at intervals throughout the year with simple meditation techniques and some yogic philosophy being taught in accordance with the kriya Yoga tradition. There will also be oppurtunities for Kriya initiation.

There will be optional work service on the grounds assisting with the organic farming, helping with building improvements and preparation of vegetarian meals. Additional classes in Hatha Yoga, Tai Chi, Chi Gong, Ayurveda, Vedic astrology and other complementary subjects will be included as the oppurtunity arises. Should any qualified teachers staying on retreat wish to share their knowledge with other guests this would be welcomed.

Although kriyabans and beginning meditators from all lineages are welcome the centre is associated, and works in accordance, with the Center for Spiritual Awarenes (please visit the CSA website at www.csa-davis.org ). Retreats will be taught in English but there will be translations available in Croatian, German, Spanish, Italian and French.

We also invite CSA ministers from other countries to hold retreats and seminars here in their own language and to contribute to existing programmes.

Outside of scheduled retreat times the centre will open for private retreats where students can come and spend time in quiet reflection.

All courses are run on a donation basis in accordance with the Kriya Yoga tradition.

The Property

The centre is situated on an old farm 45 minutes north east of Zagreb near the town of Vrbovec (pronounced vrb-o-vets, with a rolling 'r'). We have 2.5 acres of land, a house, a traditional oak barn and several outbuildings and storage rooms. We also have several fruit trees and a working well with good quality groundwater.

The main house will accomodate staff and serve as the cooking and dining area for guests, the barn will be used as the teaching hall and the outbuildings will be converted to guest rooms and wash facilities. Some new dwellings will also be built to house guests at a later date.

The main house only needs fairly minor restoration but some of the outbuildings and the barn need some major renovation before the centre can open fully. So far the project has been run on private funds but these are now running low. We will need donations of building materials and financial support for the project to be completed.

Should you wish to donate towards the cost of creating the centre or have skills and experience to contribute then your offering would be most gracioulsy received.
